The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
