Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
